Typhoon "Bavi": The Strongest Typhoon to Make Landfall in Zhejiang in July Since 1949

Late at night on July 11, 2026, Typhoon "Bavi"—the ninth typhoon of the year—made landfall along the coast of Yuhuan City, Taizhou, Zhejiang Province. At the time of landfall, maximum wind speeds near the center reached Level 13 (40 meters per second). This was the strongest typhoon to hit Zhejiang in July since 1949, prompting the province to immediately activate a Level I emergency response—the highest level possible.

Over 2.2 million people across the province were urgently relocated; the typhoon brought gale-force winds (Level 8 or higher) lasting more than 30 hours and caused heavy rainfall affecting over a dozen provinces.

Huzhou City, where Xute Electronics is located, activated its Level I typhoon emergency response at 21:00 on July 11.

Protection of Finished Goods and Raw Materials: All finished goods and raw materials were elevated for storage and treated with moisture- and water-proofing measures.

Drainage System Clearing: All drainage ditches and channels around the factory premises were cleared to ensure smooth water flow.

Electrical Safety Protection: Critical electrical equipment was secured, and emergency response protocols were activated.

Personnel Safety Assurance: Employees were notified to prioritize safety, and on-duty staff strictly adhered to emergency protocols.

The Xute factory successfully withstood the test as the typhoon passed through. Following the typhoon's departure from Zhejiang on the morning of July 12, a full-factory inspection confirmed:
